Sep 25 — Celebrate 50th Anniversary of the Passage of the 30ft Height Limit
Sunday Sep 25, 2022
3:30PM Social time and check-in
4:00OM Meeting on Zoom
Club meetings will remain on Zoom for the foreseeable future.
This November marks the 50th anniversary of the passage of the 30-foot height limit, Prop D, which was voted into law by the people of San Diego in 1972.
Two years ago we invited Kathy Blavatt, author of San Diego’s Sunset Cliffs Park: A History, Mandy Havlik, member of the Peninsula Planning Board, and City Councilmember Dr. Jen Campbell to discuss the history of the ordinance, and how regular citizens got together to fight for their communities over the interest of outside developers.
For this month's meeting we'll have panelists discuss Measure C — this November's ballot measure which seeks to amend the People's Ordinance to exclude the Midway-Pacific Highway Community Plan area, which includes the Sports Arena, from the 30-foot height limit on buildings in the Coastal Zone.
Throughout October there are plans to celebrate the People's Ordinance and we'll consider a proposal to support the ad-hoc committee that's forming to champion the 50th anniversary of this historic landmark.
Sep 24 — Bagels, Coffee and Texting for Barbara Bry
Please join the first texting event of Barbara Bry’s campaign for San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk on Saturday, September 24, from 9:30 am-noon in Mt. Helix.
Texting is a key part of her strategy to communicate with the county’s two million voters. The campaign pays 9 cents per text when the vendor sends it out vs. 5 cents when a volunteer does it. The program is very easy to use, you simply log into the system on your smart phone to access voter contacts, and then you press a button! The text comes from a campaign phone number, not your personal phone.
Come enjoy bagels, coffee and good conversation; Barbara will be there to talk and text with you.
Please RSVP by emailing here.
John Loughlin and Susan Peinado look forward to seeing you on Sep 24. Seating is all outdoors and we ask that everyone is vaccinated.
