4:00OM Meeting on Zoom
Club meetings will remain on Zoom for the foreseeable future.

As ballots start to arrive in our mailboxes we'll have our last endorsement meeting before the June 7 Primary. We'll then immediately update our voting guide for all of the races on Pt Loma & Ocean Beach ballot.
Countywide elections are extremely difficult, time-consuming and expensive. We should understand the importance of these elected positions and how they affect the lives of all San Diego County residents.
There are multiple candidates in the Sheriff’s race, but only one Democrat replied to our invitiation for endorsement consideration.
The Assessor-Recorder-Clerk and Treasurer-Tax Collector races won’t appear on the June Primary ballot — as there only two candidates in each race they are automatically qualified for the November General Election.

Attack Mailers
Many of you have received numerous mailers for and against candidates for Sheriff and for San Diego City Council District 2, there's been some interesting discussion online, and Sunday night there's an online forum discussing this debasing of Democracy.
Forum: Who’s Paying for Misleading Attack Ads to Suppress Voter Turnout in the City Council District 2 Election? – Sunday, May 22, 7PM via Zoom — obrag.org OB Rag Reporter Geoff Page One of Panelists From Lori Saldaña for City Council Three local investigative journalists will conduct an educational forum on Sunday, May 22 at 7:00 PM, to discuss a San Diego Political Action Committee (PAC) that is filling District 2 mailboxes with false and misleading attack ads. The ads began in early May, and are intended to suppress votes in support of San Diego City Council candidate and former California Assemblywoman Lori Saldaña. Panelists include retired journalists JW August (KGTV) and Paul Kreuger (KNSD) and current investigative reporter Geoff Page. Page has written detailed articles in the OB Rag investigating the blatant lies included in direct mail pieces being delivered to voters throughout District 2, starting in early May as ballots arrived.
Morning Report: Silly Mailer Season — voiceofsandiego.org
Sometimes political consultants are too clever by half. We always talk about issues and policies and big votes but the political consultants have got local races boiled down to numbers and voting blocks so specific they just target them precisely with the campaign tool of choice: mailers.
