June 26 - Sunday in the Park with the Pt Loma & OB Dems
Sunday June 26, 2022
2:00-4:00PM Meeting in Person!
Bring your own food and drink (no alcohol)
Westminster Presbyterian Church
3598 Talbot Street, San Diego, CA 92106
It's been awhile. Instead of attending the OB Street Fair in June as we normally do, we thought we'd get together for a picnic! A purely social event. A chance to talk to each other after the Primary, and discuss ideas for the rest of the year.
Meet Barbara Bry our endorsed candidate for County Assessor-Recorder-Clerk
Bring Your Own
Whatever you'd like to eat and drink is on hand — as you have to bring it all yourself!
Facilities
There are picnic tables and restrooms, but it's best to bring your own chairs/cushions/blankets.
Parking
There's plenty of parking on the lower level, so it's not far to walk from your car to the picnic area. Enter from north side of Talbot, between Cañon and Albion.
Sunday in the Park with the Pt Loma & OB Dems — www.westminstersd.org Often you will find groups picnicking at the tables, someone sitting on a bench enjoying being outside, or grown-ups running around in the grass with their kids in our open green space which is lovingly referred to as the lawn.
Privacy and Technology Ordinance
The Privacy and Technology Ordinance mandates critical protections and limits on City Agencies to purchase and use surveillance equipment.
The review process has taken over 2 years with multiple committees and the City Council twice voting unanimously, followed by successful meet and confer with the Mayor and City Unions.
But at the last minute amendments are being suggested that would fully exempt the San Diego Police Department from this oversight.
Statements being given use misleading language or are outright false, and will either delay passage of a meaningful ordinance by another year, or gut it entirely.
e.g., the cities of Davis, Berkeley, Oakland, and Palo Alto, the counties of San Francisco and Santa Clara, and the Bay Area Rapid Transit district (BART) each have a similar surveillance ordinance in place, and each continues to participate in various federal task forces.
If you have time tomorrow please do one of these 3 things:
Call your Councilmember before Monday, June 20th and leave them a message urging their support, without amendments.
Join the Call to City Council at 2pm on Monday and voice your support!
Or join in person at City Administration Building City Council Chambers- 12th Floor 202 C Street San Diego, CA 92101.
I am urging Councilmembers to Vote Yes on Item 201, the Ordinance Regulating City’s Use, Acquisition, and Funding of Surveillance Technology without any amendments. The City has passed this ordinance unanimously, it has been through hundreds of hours of committee discussions, and is strong enough to protect San Diegans. Do not introduce last-minute loopholes to water down this ordinance.
