San Diego City Council District 2
This month our endorsement consideration is for the newly drawn San Diego City Council District 2. We have 4 Democratic candidates — and they are all clubmembers!
Jennifer Campbell
Joel Day
Mandy Havlik
Lori Saldaña
We will have a forum discussion and endorsement consideration, the outcome of which will determine the vote of our San Diego County Democratic Party Central Committee Associate Member (Kip Eischen) at the upcoming Metro West Area meeting on February 28. For this reason we are holding our February meeting a week earlier than usual on Sunday February 20, 2022, 4PM.
Many thanks to Kip and the members of the Metro West caucus who voted to move their Friendly Incumbent Endorsement consideration for District 2 back, so we could weigh in. If our club votes to endorse the incumbent Jennifer Campbell then Kip will be able to vote for the Party to support a Friendly Incumbent Endorsement FIE). However, if the club votes to endorse another candidate, or if no candidate reaches our endorsement threshold of 60%, then Kip will vote against the Party supporting a FIE. If the Metro West area does not vote for a FIE they will take up an endorsement consideration at their March meeting, where Kip will vote for the club following the outcome of this endorsement meeting.

Help your candidate get on the ballot
All candidates for District 2 need to collect nomination signatures, and the more signatures they collect the smaller the filing fee they have to pay to run for the office. If after you hear from the candidates on Sunday you'd like to help them collect signatures please reach out to your preferred candidate directly.
Officer Elections
Each February the club elects new officers to a one year term.
We are fortunate to have three of our current officers agree to run for another year. They are:
President, John Loughlin
Secretary, Kip Eischen
Treasurer, Angela Hawkins
Joining them as a candidate for Vice President is Leslie Bruce.
If any club members would like to run for any of these four officer positions, please call Ruth Rollins, Chair of the Nominating Committee at (619) 222-9344. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor.
The club would also like to express its thanks and gratitude to outgoing VP Diane Mosely who is stepping back to spend more time working on Voters Voice Initiatives including the launch of an educational campaign to bring Democracy Dollars to San Diego. Get a preview of their great new video here.
