Annual Summer Party
Our Summer Party is on Sunday August 28 starting at 3:30PM and we're pleased to welcome Congressmember Scott Peters!
We ask that all members and guests are vaccinated, and that CDC and local county COVID-19 guidelines are followed.
This year in the interests of health safety we are having the event catered. Please do not bring a dish, but instead we ask for a minimum donation of $20 to cover the delicious food from ¡Salud!
The Party is on Sunday August 28, starting at 3:30PM at Angela and John’s house – address supplied with entry donation.
The club will furnish Carne Asada and Veggie tacos, beans, Mexican rice, guacamole, onions, cilantro, Cotija cheese, limes, red garlic, salsa, salsa verde, tortillas, quesadilla and mini tortillas, plus two drink tickets per person for wine or beer.
Come enjoy the holidays with your fellow Dems, meet your elected officials including Congressmember Scott Peters, and local candidates for the General election. Click here.
Endorsed Candidates
We're delighted to be joined at the Summer Party by Barbara Bry, our endorsed candidate for San Diego County Assessor-Recorder-Clerk.
Endorsements
The club will consider endorsements for:
San Diego County Board of Supervisors District 5 - Dr Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson
San Diego Unified District C — Dr Cody Petterson
San Diego Superior Court Seat 35 — Rebecca Kanter
We'll follow our Endorsement Forum Guidelines for considerations with only one Democratic candidate (PDF).
WSWA Back-to-School Link
Thank you Point Loma & OB Democrats for supporting WSWA for our annual Back-to-School Distribution! The distribution will be on August 20, so we need all the donations by August 18!Â
Inflation has hurt the working poor the hardest. Many of our low-income members travel to north county to clean houses or maintain yards and gasoline costs take a big bite out of their pay, while rents have gone up by as much as 42% in one year in some areas of San Diego!
San Diego's Back-to-School distribution provides a material manifestation of hope to WSWA members who are actively organizing to end poverty at its root. Our biggest need at all times is for volunteers to pick up and deliver food, work to win affordable utilities and more. But we also need supporters to donate a mountain of school supplies! Please do all you can. Just click the link!
WSWA Back-to-School drive
Please send the supplies to:
WSWA, 3014 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92102
(619) 238-9763
You may also drop off supplies yourself day, 7 days a week at the above address from 9am-9pm!
We're happy to welcome Brandon McDonald, WSWA to the Summer Party to celebrate the success of the Back-to-school drive.
GO Team
In the recent primary election, about 500 members of the San Diego County Grassroots Organizing Team provided crucial support to get Democratic candidates past the finish line.
We know that can make the difference in close races --Â trusted local volunteers who distribute our slate of endorsements and help ensure that our voters turn out.
If you're not already a GO Team member, this is the perfect time to join! You can register now for an upcoming orientation on Zoom that will give you all the information and tools you need.
Please go to sddems.link/gotraining to to check out and sign up for one of those sessions, which are running now through mid-September. (If you're already on the GO Team, keep an eye out for details on your local "kickoff" event for the general election before ballots are mailed in October.)
Personal, positive, grassroots action is key to Democratic success -- especially in this turbulent midterm year. Election after election, our GO Team gets results. To be part of this community of dedicated organizers, please sign up for training today!
We're pleased that Dina Feldman-Scarr will speak to us about GO Team at the Summer Party.
