Interested in Running for Office? Join this Party training 'Campaigning 101' — sdcdp.ngpvanhost.com
Interested in running for local office or working on a campaign in 2022? Campaign season is quickly approaching for next year's midterm elections -- when hundreds of local seats on city councils, school boards, community planning boards, and other districts across the entire County will be on the ballot. This is the perfect time to learn more about and San Diego County Democratic Party is here to help get you started.
Campaigning 101: Overview and Fundamentals, a virtual info session, will be held July 7, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., remotely on Zoom.
Open to prospective candidates and campaign staff alike, this complimentary session will cover topics including: the process of becoming a candidate and determining which seat to run for, the role and structure of campaign staff and support, an overview of the San Diego County Democratic Party's candidate endorsement process, and guidance on next steps and considerations you can take. The steady progress Democrats have made across the County, including major local wins in 2020, reflect strong voter support for electing Democrats who truly understand and represent the values of their communities. We're glad you've ready to get involved, at any level, and hope to see you at this event.

Host a House Party for the Roosevelt Honors July 31 — sdcdp.ngpvanhost.com
A new option for this year's (mostly virtual) Roosevelt Honors on July 31 will be small house parties, where fully vaccinated guests can view the event and safely socialize together. If you're interested in hosting an event, the County Democratic Party can help with a planning guide, some refreshments, and more. You can build your guest list from your Democratic club or other network, or simply provide a venue and let the County Party identify supporters who would like to attend. To offer to host a house party or for more information, please email roosevelt@sddemocrats.org. Individual tickets to a house party -- supporting the largest annual fundraiser for San Diego Democrats -- are $100 and include a souvenir item. To purchase individual tickets to join the event remotely from home, please go to www.sddemocrats.org/roosevelt. You can also click here to learn about sponsorship opportunities and benefits.
Apply for Our Political Organizing Academy — sdcdp.ngpvanhost.com
Applications are now open for currently enrolled or recently graduated students to participate in the County Party's Political Organizing Academy this summer or fall. The program is a great way to get hands-on political experience and interaction with Democratic activists and Party leaders.
Organizers support various activities and projects of the Party, including administration, field organizing, research, finance, communications and social media. Their time will be a mix of in-person and remote participation.
These volunteer positions often involve connecting with campaigns or government offices, which can lead to further opportunities -- as they have for a number of our former organizers.
Applicants should demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in standard office technology. They should be able to volunteer at least five to ten hours per week, possibly including some weekend hours. Finally, they should possess a genuine interest in politics and support the Democratic Party's platform and candidates. Please visit sddems.link/organizer for more information on how to apply.
