Congressional District 50
This month we return to endorsement considerations — for the newly drawn Congressional District 50.
The new district is 66.0% White, 11.7% Asian, 3.7% Black and 16.7% Latino.
We have three Democratic candidates:
Scott Peters
Adam Schindler
Kylie Taitano
We will have a forum discussion and endorsement consideration, moderated by the chair of our endorsement committee, Deval Zaveri-Tabb.

Resolution in support of AB2764
Clubmember Dave Engle presented at our last meeting and solicited the club's support for AB2764 — "Moratorium on Commercial Animal Feeding Operations and Slaughterhouses".
AB 2764 is supported by San Diego City Council candidates Tommy Hough and Lori Saldana who spoke in favor of it during non-agenda public comment at the Thursday March 17th San Diego City Council Environment Committee meeting. A motion was also unanimously passed by the San Diego County Democrats For Environmental Action at their March 16th meeting in support of AB 2764. San Diego Unified School Board, Subdistrict C candidate Cody Petterson also supports AB 2764 along with Direct Action Everywhere, Compassionate Bay and many, many others.
Consider this unanimously passed resolution by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on November 16th 2021 which inspired AB 2764 that makes many compelling points.
You can read more about the legislation here. We will vote on a resolution in support of AB2764 at our April 24 meeting.

Polling for San Diego City Council District 2
You may have recently received a phone call from Dynata, a company that's conducting polling in the San Diego City Council District 2 race (or you may get one soon).
When taking part in a poll feel free to ask the pollster who is paying for the poll, to ask them to repeat their questions (so you can make notes), and to record the conversation if you like. Legitimate pollsters are normally happy to comply, but push-polling companies may get evasive. If you think their line of questioning favors one candidate over another and they won't disclose who is paying for the poll they can be reported to the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) — let us know your experiences with this latest round of polling. There are clubmembers who are actively monitoring these practices and can help you with any questions you may have. Contact the club for more details.

“Build Better SD is a citywide initiative to enable the faster delivery of public spaces and buildings equitably and sustainably across San Diego.”
Huh? Luckily, the site adds some more explanation:
