City of San Diego seeks input on trash collection and potential fee
Measure B was approved by voters in 2022 and allows the City of San Diego to potentially introduce a fee for trash collection for single-family homeowners who previously did not pay for the service.
The City of San Diego is beginning a process to study options for a fee for trash collection and enhanced services. As part of this study, the City of San Diego will hold a series of public open houses to collect community input.
According to the Environmental Services Department, the city’s trash and recycling collection services cost more than $90 million. The City Council could establish a fee that recovers all or some of that cost.
The department is holding the following meetings in person from 5:30 to 7 PM:
Monday, Aug. 26th: Point Loma/Hervey Library, 3701 Voltaire St., 92107
Tuesday, Aug. 27th: Serra Mesa-Kearny Mesa Library, 9005 Aero Drive, 92123
Tuesday, Sept. 3rd: Scripps Miramar Ranch Library, 10301 Scripps Lake Drive, 92131
Monday, Sept. 9th: La Jolla/Riford Library, 7555 Draper Ave., 92037
Please take the time to participate in these meetings and let your voice be heard.
